Smart marketers know this thing is super important. My tips are going to help you in getting in front of the right audience and then leveraging that audience to creating that conversation to the best of your ability. Let’s begin.
1. Live video
I do a lot of this, check out my Facebook page. Live video is exploding! You can do live videos on pretty much every platform, be it Youtube, Instagram and so forth.
It's really important that you are you putting that into your marketing mix, it's not just your written content, not just live your videos also what services you offer, and your current projects, your business advice, things like that. Live videos give you a chance to engage with your viewers in real time. The best part is that it’s free!
Often times you are working on a small business or start up, it's really hard because the budget is not there. So live videos are really easy to put out your information in video format, which algorithms like a little bit more. (Facebook and Instagram)
2. Geofencing and mobile marketing
Let's say you are sitting in your doctor's office and you are on your phone, and all of the sudden an ad pops up for that doctor's office and you think, “I'm already here! Why are you trying to get me to go to the same doctor?”
That's actually geofencing.
It takes any mobile, location and captures it; especially if you are in a big office building or co-working system, you can get a hyper targeted audience; because they're already in your location to get out in front of them; it literally takes the area you are in and anyone pops in area, takes your information and will it pop up for them.
You can personalize it with recommendations, individuals or even local markets. If you are a brick and mortar store, I would recommend that, you know a whole grocer list of alerts that can be personalized and such.
3. Augmented reality
This is something I'm really getting into and I'm not that good on it yet, but augmented reality shouldn’t be overlooked.
Let’s say you create a product, a 3D physical product. You can’t touch it, a lot of people are ignoring augmented reality when it comes to marketing and it's becoming really cool. Facebook has even started doing that. You can take those 3D photos.
In taking that augmented reality and really put a visualization on that product is really cool, and it gives users the ability to feel the product without actually being in your store, especially if you sell it via ecommerce. Then they can really see what they are going to be getting.
4. Instagram story polls
You can create polls and it's always fun to see who votes for what, and how people polarize themselves that.
But you can also do it on Instagram. If you are on there, it's a great way to get people to interact with your Instagram stories, and the more Instagram stories you have the better your profile is, it's just part of the deal and the people they will show it.
The more people it’s being shown to the more people can follow you and so on. My recommendations is to use stories that enable you to share 15 seconds of a video or photos and then people vote, ask stuff.
You'll find your followers are a little bit more loyal, engaged with your brand and they are showing you their support which is really cool.
5. Instagram TV
New thing on Instagram also is IG TV, you can create branded short or long videos, doesn't really matter; but videos that are in horizontal format so this is a landscape format, and so I would not recommend something on Facebook live and putting over to IG TV, you won't be able to see everything that you want.
You can create a 10-minute video, some people create 30-second videos or some do 60- second videos; it really depends. It's an exciting digital marketing trend.
It’s probably like a new Youtube but it's not a search engine (yet).
6. Bot assisted customer relations
The other thing I would like to point out is bot assisted customer relations.
What does that mean?
Here on Facebook, you can actually create a messenger bot, right from your Facebook page over to your audience as soon as they opt-in. You can then broadcast when they are going live like this, you can do all kinds of stuff; and it's really helpful because they will get to know your brand a little easier and they don't have to think about it. They get the message, right there and then; that you were live.
You can also put them into sequence and let them go through it. A whole sequence of information on your sales or what you are offering, your services, your new favourite color, your food trends etc.
Then you can keep in contact with those people on a daily, weekly basis, whenever you can.
That's something you can hop on to, it's not that really hard, I use ManyChat. That is my new favourite one, the bot assisted customer relations.
7. Voice marketing
I just got onto this myself but everything is going from written content to video and audio, look at the future guys, we have alexa, google home and that sort of stuff.
Around 40% of adults use video search every day.
When was the last you picked up the phone and were like 'hey alexa', and then you got an answer. You press the little microphone and it talks to. Voice marketing is really important, it’s going to be a $3 billion market by 2022. It's really cool.
If you are not on that boat you might want to jump in.
Tip: A lot of the time when I'm talking about content, I'm giving you all types of tips and these are the ones you should do or try. But find what works best for you, you don’t have to jump on all of them. You don't have to do it all. It's not going to be great, I happen to have a team behind me, and I can fill in the gaps of my knowledge with them, don't do it all, if you are interested in learning more feel free to just put "learn more" in the comments, I'll send you more information. Simply send me a message as well. I'm more than happy to kind of talk you through for what will be the best ones for you.
8. Evergreen content
In talking about content, make sure it's evergreen.
You want to make sure that you can get a healthy amount of organic traffic; focusing on search engine optimization because content is king. No matter what kind of video, audio, written; doesn't matter it's still king.
But you want it to be evergreen meaning it has longevity.
But not all content has to be set up to be long lasting but a good portion of it does. I usually use an 80/20 rule. There will be 80% for lasting a long time and 20% on the industry's topics of the week, that means people are going to keep coming back and revisiting that content overtime.
For example, if I had written something 2 weeks ago for IG tv, I would have been going back and rewriting it. This is because it changes and so does the algorithm, what they are looking for, the specs, you got to make sure you are with that information.
So those are my top couple of topics
The other few, if you want that information you can get in touch with me to finish this lovely list.
If you have questions about digital marketing, content or what content would be good for you feel free to shoot me a message, I'm more than happy to talk with you guys, not a problem. And best of all it's free, consider a free consultation, I'm more than to help, or I'm just super nice?
